midbrain locomotor region (MLR)

The term midbrain locomotor region (MLR) refers to a set of nuclei in that include the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), the cuneiform nucleus (CNN) and the adjacent mesencephalic reticular formation (mRT). These areas contain intermingled glutamatergic and GABAergic neurons, and the PPN also contains cholinergic neurons ( Manuel-2021 )
