ventral orbital area

The term ventral orbital area refers to a cytoarchitecturally defined area of the cerebral cortex in the rat and mouse. A subdivision of orbital areas (rodent), it is located between the medial orbital area and the lateral orbital area of the mouse ( Paxinos-2001; Hof-2000 ). In the rat, it neighbors the ventrolateral orbital area as well ( Swanson-2004 ).
