Structures seen only in the macaque brain are indicated by (M). Structures whose names are not followed by (M) or (H) are probably, but not necessarily, present in both humans and monkeys. The criterion for presence or absence in the NeuroNames Hierarchy is similarity in gross morphology. Many more structures of the human brain have homologues in nonhuman primates if one considers their internal structure and connections. |
