NeuroNames is used as a term's source if no published source of the term has been found. In most cases, the term is an English translation of a commonly used Latin term. In some cases it is a Latin translation of an English term for which no published Latin equivalent has been found. (NeuroNames).
The source designation "NeuroNames-95" is used for terms that appeared in the 1995 version of NeuroNames, and whose definition has been changed in the current version. For example, the definition of medial mammillary nucleus in the current NeuroNames is that of Saper-90. The definition in the 1995 version was that of Carpenter-83, which is now represented by the term "medial mammillary nucleus (Carpenter)" and listed as a synonym for "medial part of medial mammillary nucleus." |
