Acronym:
The term nucleus of the accessory olfactory tract refers to a group of cells near the surface of the brain between the supraoptic nucleus and the cortical amygdalar nucleus in the rat ( Swanson-1998 ) and the mouse ( Paxinos-2001 ). It is one of five subdivisions of the medial amygdalar nucleus. The other four are the anterodorsal part of the medial amygdalar nucleus, the anteroventral part of the medial amygdalar nucleus, the posterodorsal part of the medial amygdalar nucleus and the posteroventral part of the medial amygdalar nucleus ( Swanson-2004 ).
