genu of the corpus callosum

The term genu of the corpus callosum refers to the rostral most portion of the corpus callosum in the human ( Carpenter-1983 ), macaque ( Martin-2000 ), rat ( Swanson-2004 ) and mouse ( Franklin-2008 ). It is bounded caudally by the body of the corpus callosum, and, in all but the mouse, ventrocaudally by the rostrum of the corpus callosum. It is Region 2 of seven parts defined in a common parcellation scheme for the corpus callosum. See corpus callosum (Witelson).
