area 43 of Brodmann (human)
Acronym: 43
The term area 43 of Brodmann (human) refers to a subdivision of the cytoarchitecturally defined postcentral region of cerebral cortex. In the human it occupies the postcentral gyrus and the precentral gyrus between the ventrolateral extreme of the central sulcus and the depth of the lateral fissure at the insula. Its rostral and caudal borders are approximated by the anterior subcentral sulcus (H) and the posterior subcentral sulcus respectively. Cytoarchitecturally it is bounded rostrally by the area 6 of Brodmann (human) and caudally, for the most part, by the area 2 of Brodmann (human) and the area 40 of Brodmann (human) ( Brodmann-1909 ).
