The term ventral part of the basolateral nucleus refers to one of three subdivisions of the basolateral nucleus of the amygdala identified by Nissl stain in some strains of rat ( Paxinos-2009b ) and in the mouse ( Dong-2004; Franklin-2008 ). The other two are the anterior part of the basolateral nucleus and the posterior part of the basolateral nucleus.
