sensory superior colliculus
Acronym:
The term sensory superior colliculus refers to one of two parts of the superior colliculus in the functional model of the central nervous system ( Swanson-2004; see Models Where It Appears below). The other part is the motor superior colliculus. The sensory part consists of three layers in the classical CNS model: the zonal layer of the superior colliculus, the superficial gray layer of the superior colliculus, and the superficial white layer of the superior colliculus ( Carpenter-1983 ). It is found both in primates and in rodents.
