The term noradrenergic cell groups refers to collections of neurons in the central nervous system that have been demonstrated by histochemical fluorescence to contain the neurotransmitter norepinephrine (noradrenalin) ( Fuxe-1970 ). They are named A1 cell group, A2 cell group, A4 cell group, A5 cell group, A6 cell group, A7 cell group ( Smeets-1994 ), A6sc cell group ( German-1975 ) and Acg cell group ( Felten-1983 ).
