subpeduncular pigmented nucleus

The term subpeduncular pigmented nucleus refers to one of four components of the parabrachial nuclei of the human. It is located along the ventrolateral boundary of the lateral parabrachial nucleus. Identified by the presence of neuromelanin containing cells, it is not found in species other than humans ( Paxinos-2012 ).
