suprafornical region
Acronym:
The term suprafornical region refers to one of twenty six regions, zones, and nuclei that constitute the motor lateral hypothalamus. Located in the lateral hypothalamic area of the rat, it is bounded ventrally by the fornix, dorsally by the zona incerta, medially by the juxtadorsomedial region and laterally by the dorsal region of the lateral hypothalamic area. Functionally it belongs to the subcortical motor system ( Swanson-2004 ).
