area 47/12r
Acronym: 47/12r
The term area 47/12r refers to one of four subdivisions of area 47 in the orbital gyri of the human cerebral cortex. Composed of granular cortex, it is defined on the basis of multiple stains for internal structure. it is located at the lateral margin of the orbital gyri, rostral to area 47/12l, and lateral to area 11l. It is bounded medially by area 47/12m. The other subdivision of area 47/12 is area 47s. For the relations of this segmentation and terminology to others, see Ongur-2003.
Its equivalent in the macaque is area 12r (macaque) ( Ongur-2003 ). As granular prefrontal cortex, it has no equivalent in the rat ( Wallis-2012 ).
