intermediate periventricular nucleus

The term intermediate periventricular nucleus refers to the portion of the periventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus located in the intermediate hypothalamic region in the human ( Carpenter-1983 ), the macaque ( Kusama-1970 ), the rat ( Swanson-1992 ) and the mouse ( Dong-2004 ). Functionally it belongs to the parvicellular neuroendocrine cell groups of the subcortical motor system ( Swanson-2004 ).
