olivary eminence

The term olivary eminence (olv) refers to a surface feature of the inferior olivary complex (OLVi) in the human ( Carpenter-1983 ). It is an oval-shaped bulge on the ventrolateral surface of the medulla (MDL) just below the posterior margin of the pons (PON). It is not found in the macaque ( Paxinos-2009a ), rat ( Swanson-1994 ) or mouse ( Hof-2000 ). Updated 22 Oct 2025.
