A8 cell group
Acronym: A8
The term A8 cell group refers to a small group of cells fluorescent for dopamine in the human ( Halliday-2012 ), macaque ( Felten-1983 ), rat ( Dahlstrom-1964 ) and mouse ( Franklin-2008 ). It is located in the midbrain reticular formation dorsolateral to the substantia nigra at the level of the red nucleus and caudally. It overlaps the classically defined retrorubral field and, in the human, the midbrain reticular field ( Halliday-2012 ).
