acoustic sulcus

The term acoustic sulcus denotes a branch from the superior temporal sulcus (sts) into the superior temporal gyrus (STG) at about midpoint in the human. Identified by dissection ( Szikla-1977; Duvernoy-1992 ), it is not found in the macaque ( Martin-2000 ) nor in the smooth cerebral cortex (CTX) of the rat or mouse (NeuroNames ). Updated 3 Sep 2024.
