anterior thalamic radiations
Acronym:
The term anterior thalamic radiations refers to fiber pathways that connect the anterior nuclear group of the thalamus and the midline nuclear group of the thalamus with the frontal lobe through the anterior thalamic peduncle, the anterior limb of the internal capsule and other parts of the cerebral white matter. They are not readily distinguished in myelin-stained histological cross-sections. For a detailed discussion of semantic differences in the use of terms relating to the thalamic peduncles and the thalamocortical radiations see Anthoney-1994.
