postpiriform transition area

The term postpiriform transition area refers to a transition zone at the boundary between the amygdala and the cerebral cortex in the human ( Mai-1997 ), the macaque ( Paxinos-2009a ) the rat ( Swanson-2004 ) and the mouse ( Dong-2004 ). It is between the amygdala and the piriform area rostrally and the entorhinal area caudally. (In the human and the macaque the piriform area and entorhinal area are parts of the parahippocampal gyrus.)
