arcuate fasciculus
Acronym:
The term arcuate fasciculus refers to a fiber pathway in the cerebral white matter. Some authors regard it as the connection between the frontal lobe and the temporal lobe. Others as a synonym for the superior longitudinal fasciculus. See Anthoney-1994 for a discussion of semantic conflicts in the use of these terms. The structures are not readily distinguished in myelin-stained cross-sections.
