area PGp
Acronym: PGp
The term area PGp (PGp) refers to a cortical structure located in inferior parietal cortex (IPC) a region that is much expanded in humans relative to macaques and chimpanzees. It is bounded posteriorly and inferiorly by the MT+ complex and MT+ neighbors. Defined by multiple criteria, it is fMRI activated in PLACE, SOCIAL, and MOTOR CUE tasks and deactivated in a FACE task ( Glasser-2016 ). Updated 27 May 2025.
