Acronym: COArd
The term dorsal part of the rostral cortical amygdalar nucleus (COArd) refers to the more dorsal of two parts of the rostral cortical amygdalar nucleus (COAr). The other is the vantral part of the rostral cortical amygdalar nucleus (COArv). The COArd is found in the periamygdalar cortex (PAC) of the human and macaque ( Amaral-1992 ). Because of differences in shape of the ventral surface of the cerebral hemisphere (CHE,) its location in the rat ( Swanson-2004 ) and mouse ( AMBA-2024 ) is referred to as medial (m) rather than (d).
      Because the COArd receives input from the main olfactory bulb ( Yilmer-Hanke-2012 p795 ) it is considered part of the olfactory sensory system (OSY) ( NeuroNames ). Final 28 Jan 2025.
