pontine nuclei

The term pontine nuclei refers to groups of cells embedded in the myelinated tracts of the basal pons. They are found in the human ( Carpenter-1983 ), the macaque ( Martin-2000 ), the rat ( Swanson-2004 ) and the mouse ( Hof-2000 ). Functionally they belong to the postcerebellar and precerebellar nuclei of the behavior control column ( Swanson-2004 ).
